Modern Wedding Photography: Lindsay and Jeremy Tie the Knot in Style at The Nash

You want modern wedding photography? It doesn’t get more contemporary and stylish than Lindsay and Jeremy’s gorgeous summer wedding at The Nash.

Every single detail of this wedding day exuded style and elegance. The groom and his guys got ready at the super-cool Alt Hotel in East Village, while the bride and her girls prepared for the big day at the couple’s beautiful home.

The bride’s sister Jennifer, a wedding planner extraordinaire, oversaw every single detail ensuring that everything was perfect and on point.

The couple’s first look took place at the stunning Calgary library downtown, which was a definite favorite moment for everyone. Tears were flowing, and emotions were high as the couple saw each other for the first time on their special day.

The wedding party met up in Inglewood for our wedding party photos and they were troopers despite the sweltering heat. We then headed to The Nash to prepare for what would be the most beautiful ceremony anyone could imagine. I absolutely LOVE The Nash as a Calgary wedding venue. So much charm. Such incredible staff, food and service. They make your experience truly unforgettable.

A sweet moment happened during the ceremony when officiant Angela asked for the rings. The groomsmen went looking in their pockets for the rings. Then they went down the line and picked up a wine box. Inside was Beary. And if you saw Lindsay and Jeremy’s Engagement Session blogpost, you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about. Jeremy used Beary to hide Lindsay’s engagement ring before he proposed. Beary made his way back to this wedding day and had the couple’s rings inside. It was a really great moment!

The reception was so much fun! These two are certainly loved. You can tell by the quality of their family and friends. The bride’s Dad has us crying during his speech. Actually, everyone did! No dry eyes!

The couple did something super cool for the tradition where you clink your glass to get the couple to kiss. In honour of Jeremy’s dad Paul, guests were asked to donate to the MS Society of Canada. It was incredibly special. They raised so much money! If you feel moved to donate, please find the link here.

Lindsay and Jeremy’s First Dance was a magical moment that took place in the Off Cut Bar, surrounded by their family and friends. The party kicked off with DJ Jason One of Dance! Shout! Productions, and everyone danced the night away, making it a night to remember.

I asked Lindsay and Jeremy some questions after their gorgeous wedding and here’s what they had to say…

What was your most anticipated part of the day?

Jeremy: Our first look.

Lindsay: Our vows. I was excited to share them but also anxious to see if I’d be able to make it through without being a blubbering mess.

What ended up being your favourite part of the day?

Our first look. We both had so much fun and it was so special to have that alone time before everything else started. We laughed and cried and now have the most amazing photos so we can look back and remember it forever.

What advice would you give to future couples for their wedding?

Try to be as present as possible. There will be lots of stress leading up to the wedding trying to get all of the details finalized but try not to worry about the little things the day of and just focus on each other.

Were you nervous?

Jeremy: Yes, getting married is a big deal.

Lindsay: I’m a crier so I was nervous that I’d cry A LOT. And a bit nervous that I’d trip walking down the aisle but it all worked out and I think I cried a reasonable amount.

What was the biggest surprise on your wedding day?

Jeremy: I was surprised at how little I ate. I specifically ordered extra chicken wings for our late night snack expecting to eat most of them myself but I only had one. All the emotions and adrenaline really effect your appetite.

Lindsay: The biggest surprise for me was Beary making yet another appearance and acting as the ring “bear”. Other than that, I was surprised that everyone who said “oh you won’t eat very much at your wedding” was actually right. It was also a fun surprise that we both referenced me making tea every night.

What are you looking forward to as a married couple?

Continuing to have a partner who I know will always have my back and who I’m happy to see every  morning when I wake up.

Congratulations my gorgeous friends! Thank you for including me in the most beautiful and special day!
