Kananaskis Winter Engagement Session | G + J

Alberta’s winter weather can certainly be unpredictable but this made Jackie and Graham’s Kananaskis Engagement Session a magical adventure.

I keep saying it but I love couples who won’t let bad weather spoil the day. Jackie and Graham had their first date camping out in Kananaskis so it was obviously the perfect location to photograph their Engagement Session. I love taking couples to places that mean something to them. The weather was actually supposed to be super nice for this particular Saturday but at the last minute, a system rolled in (just as they tend to do in Alberta) and we were bombarded with high winds and blowing snow.

I wasn’t too worried about these two however! They are quite outdoorsy and love cross country skiing and being active so they were literally up for anything! We found a magical little path, which to be honest, was one of the only walkable paths in the area as the snow was super deep and then in the absolute stillness and beauty of it all, massive snowflakes began to fall. It was sheer perfection.

As we had driven a couple of hours to get to this location, I really wanted to get mountain views and with the weather, we were in white-out conditions. With direction from my amazing husband Kyle, he got us into a quick hike and onto the lake itself where we continued with snowball fights and having way too much fun. We ended our session with coffee on my truck tailgate and epic conversations about lambs. Yes lambs. If you know these two, you probably know what I’m talking about.

Thank you Jackie + Graham for the incredible adventure. I’m always shocked that I get to have this much fun while at work! Seriously excited for your upcoming wedding.
