Elegant Calgary Minimony | J + A

We definitely didn’t have a word for it a year ago when the world changed as we knew it, but now that we do, I’m super happy to post Justin and Allison’s elegant Calgary minimony.

What is a minimony? I started to hear about this idea recently and I loved it! By definition, a minimony is a new term to describe a smaller and more intimate wedding that takes place on your planned wedding date. A minimony usually involves an officiant (in person or virtual) and a small group of loved ones. It’s a mini ceremony. Then there’s the larger “sequel” wedding planned for the future.

Due to all of the Covid restrictions, couples had to get creative with their wedding plans in 2020 and wow, did they ever! Justin and Allison decided that it was super important to them to marry each other on their original date and would reschedule the larger wedding for the following year.

I can’t even explain to you the magic that happened. I’ll let the photos do that.

With the help of insanely talented florist, Alexandra Rose Métier, Allison’s parents home was converted into the most beautiful, ethereal and intimate wedding ceremony space. To top it off, they were joined by hundreds of their family and friends virtually. Justin’s parents weren’t able to travel with the restrictions in place but his brother read the couple a letter from them and it was pretty special and very emotional. This super elegant Calgary minimony literally couldn’t be more perfect.

After the beautiful ceremony, we headed a short distance away for portraits with the couple. I brought a blue tooth speaker with me to play music and little did I know that both Allison and Justin are insanely talented singers and they started singing to each other and I literally died right there. On the spot. I love these two. We also brought a bottle of champagne to celebrate this day and we certainly did. Thank you to you both for finding the silver lining and continuing to show me what is important during a wedding day. Can’t wait to see you soon.
