Hotel Arts Calgary Jewish Wedding

“Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass. It’s about learning to dance in the rain.” And that’s exactly what we did for Cariann and Elliot’s Hotel Arts Calgary Jewish Wedding.

I met these two for coffee for our wedding consult with their adorable pup Frida. Trust me, they had me at Frida and you’ll soon see why. These two knew exactly what they envisioned for their August wedding day. An evening ceremony that led into an amazing party. They wanted the day to feel relaxed. They wanted the day to be full of love. They wanted the day to feel like them. And it absolutely did.

On the day of their wedding, it rained. Continuously. Always a good sign, right? They weren’t worried about it in the slightest. I met them at the beautiful Hotel Arts and we did a super intimate first look in their hotel room. Wait until you see what Cariann had made for Frida to wear for the day. We then ventured to Pearce Estate Park for some portraits and a little dog walk. The rain made the greens just pop and it was perfect. I promise to always make sure you’re comfortable but I do so appreciate a couple who isn’t afraid of a little rain.

It was my first opportunity to photograph a Jewish wedding and I was incredibly honoured to witness the different culture and traditions. Elliot was so kind to prepare me for what to expect. The couples loved ones surrounded them for their very intimate ceremony and it was quite the beautiful experience.

Then the party began. l have literally never had so much fun in my entire life! I definitely think every wedding needs a hora. I love dancing and this just took it to the next level. The couple then surprised their guests with a drag performance by the incredible Karla Marx and Jason from Dance! Shout! Productions took us into the evening with awesome music that kept the dance floor full all night long.

At the bottom, you’ll find all the amazing vendors involved in making this day perfect.
