Beautiful Invermere Barn Wedding | E + S
I happened to be in Invermere when I received a wedding inquiry from Stacey and Erin that said…”We are a super in love same sex couple (2 brides!) that live on a farm just outside of Calgary. We are getting married on a horse farm near Invermere BC in August. There are mountains, horses and just the perfect back drop for our wedding!” I’m pretty certain they had me at “super in love same sex couple” (and trust me, they are!) AND “mountains, horses, and Invermere”.
I am super lucky to get to spend a couple of weeks with my husband and dogs in beautiful Invermere, British Columbia every April. Invermere is primarily a summer destination for a lot of Albertans, so it’s an amazing to get to experience it while the “valley” is still quiet. It is literally one of our favourite places to travel!
Seeing as we were already in Invermere when I received this inquiry, my husband and I decided to go visit this horse farm. WOW. WOW. WOW. If you haven’t seen or heard of House of the Friesians, do it now. Besides the location being absolutely stunning, the owners Gerard and Caio are possibly the kindest and most interesting people I’ve ever met. I could see from dedication to their land and to their horses, that they were the type of people who’s main focus was the happiness of their clients.
Even though we were in the thick of fire season and the 360 degree views of the mountains were gone, this location did not disappoint. Surrounded by 15 of their closest family and friends, along with so many amazing dogs that I’m pretty sure I lost count, the wedding weekend itself was perfection. The best part of such an intimate wedding is that the girls chose to have no real schedule. We went with the flow of the day and it was extremely relaxing and fun. We also ate like Gods thanks to the personal chef the girls hired for the weekend. For portraits, the three of us hopped into my truck where Gerard showed me an old logging road on the back of the property that took us to an abandoned saw mill. We spent a couple of hours exploring and laughing our faces off. We went into an amazing dinner filled with the most heartfelt speeches. We ended the night dancing under the stars. Does it get any better than this?!
Thank you Erin and Stacey for making me feel like family. Thank you to your family and friends for being such a rad family. I love that our friendship continues today. Love you two to pieces! Can’t wait to visit soon. A few words after the wedding from my amazing brides:
“We found Sue by chance. We had no idea how well she would blend in with our friends and family, but amazingly she seemed like she knew us all forever! She took amazing engagement photos and even better wedding photos. We felt so comfortable with her which really shows in our photos. Everyone who has seen them comment on how stunning/beautiful/gorgeous they are. She was worth the investment, and we are so happy to have chosen her to document our amazing day! Thank you so much Sue, Erin and I will truly treasure our photos forever!”
