I remember the first time I met Connor and Clayton over our video wedding consult. I was smitten. Their connection was electric, and I knew instantly that capturing their love story would be an honour. On August 5, 2023, surrounded by loved ones, they embarked on a journey of a lifetime. From intimate moments to joyous celebrations, their stunning Venue308 wedding in Calgary was nothing short of magical.

Breaking the mold of traditional wedding preparations, Connor and Clayton opted to get ready together. Alongside their amazing besties/bridesmaids Nancy and Jeet, the atmosphere was filled with laughter, excitement, and anticipation. It was a refreshing twist on the usual getting ready prep routine, setting the tone for the day’s festivities.

The incredible crew at Venue308 had the biggest surprise in store for us—they gave us access to their brand new space, Studios at Vic Park for Connor and Clayton’s private vow exchange. With its stunning ambiance, it was the perfect backdrop for Connor and Clayton’s heartfelt promises. As they declared their love to each other, it was a moment of pure magic. Tears flowed down my face from behind my camera. I live for these beautiful moments of connection between couples.

The grooms then had a super fun “first look” reveal with their best friends/bridesmaids. I absolutely love when couples are intentional about who they ask to share in their wedding day. The five of us then embarked on an adventure through Calgary’s amazing landscapes for Couple’s Portraits and Wedding Party photos.

Returning to Venue308, the couple exchanged emotional vows in front of family and friends in a wedding ceremony filled with love and sincerity. The cocktail hour and dinner were filled with touching speeches from family and friends, highlighting the impact of Connor and Clayton’s love on everyone present.

A highlight of the evening for me was the cake cutting. Under the talented hands of pastry chef Arin Hiebert of the Fairmont Palliser, the couple shared a gorgeous cake cutting moment, followed by an evening of dancing and celebration. Vegas the DJ set the mood, and the dance floor came alive as guests joined in the festivities.

After the wedding, I asked Connor and Clayton some questions about their wedding day experience and here is what they had to say.

What was your most anticipated part of the day?
We were so excited to meet you in person! Full disclosure, you are amazing!! You truly are, you made our day so special. We can’t stop talking about you, and the sneak peek photos, omg, makes us relive our day again. Thank you so much, from the bottom of our hearts. You are the best!

What ended up being your favourite part of the day?
We loved the pre-ceremony fun, from getting ready, hanging out at the venue, watching set-up happen, and our amazing time taking photos. This part of the day went by slower, allowing us to just have fun.

What was the biggest surprise on your wedding day?
The ceremony being a blur. We both remember different parts of it. At one point it felt like we were standing there fore hours and after the fact, it seemed to be done in seconds.

What advice would you give to future couple for their wedding?
Breathe, relax and have fun.

What are you looking forward to as a married couple?
Having each other, finding our person. AND (this coming from Connor), Clay having a new last name, haha.

Connor and Clayton’s wedding was a celebration of love, friendship, and cherished moments.
