As a Calgary portrait photographer, I had the absolute honour of photographing a Ballet Portrait Session for the insanely beautiful and talented Kailey. Ballet has always amazed me with its grace, elegance, and the sheer strength that resides within this remarkable young woman.

After careful consideration, I chose a location that holds a special place in my heart—a picturesque spot where my husband and I have spent years fly fishing. It was a dream come true to bring Kailey to this heavenly setting, surrounded by nature’s splendour. With not a soul in sight, our day was dedicated to the art of dance.

Kailey has been a part of the Alberta Ballet for the past three years and the YYC Dance Project for the last year. The YYC Dance Project is an elite dance team associated with the School of Alberta Ballet. Membership on the team requires auditions and enrollment in the full-time ballet program at the School of Alberta Ballet. Dancers receive comprehensive training in ballet, pointe, modern, contemporary, jazz, tech, lyrical, hip hop, and conditioning. The focus is on both training and performance, fostering individuality, confidence, and a strong connection to the broader dance community.

Notably, Kailey achieved the runner-up VIP position and secured a spot in the top 10 at the prestigious Nuvo Dance Convention last year. Her talent and dedication to her craft are nothing short of extraordinary. It was an honour to play a small role in her artistic journey, and I eagerly anticipate witnessing her future endeavors. Kailey’s ballet portraits in the mountains reflect her undeniable talent and passion for dance. Through my lens, I aimed to capture the essence of her artistry and showcase her remarkable skills against the backdrop of nature’s grandeur. It was a truly magical experience, and I am grateful to have been a part of Kailey’s extraordinary journey.
