Calgary Equine Session |
Mel, Brooke + Noah

Horses have always had a special place in my heart. I absolutely love Calgary Equine Sessions.  As every horse girl knows, a normal day at the barn is far from luxurious. So to have a day where you can get a little dolled up and get portraits done with your favourite four legged best friend, is a great day.

What’s even better is when you get to surprise your “person” best friend with an Equine Session for her birthday. The story of Brooke, Mel + Noah is incredible.  Brooke purchased Noah in Ontario, where she was living at the time and showed him throughout Ontario for the next eight years. When she decided to move back to Calgary, she realized that it was time for her to pass this incredible horse to another girl.  Noah was sold to a stranger in Montreal.  Fast forward four years later and that stranger happens to be Mel! The girls are now best friends.  Although Mel still lives in Montreal, she is currently completing her undergrad at the University of Calgary and therefore Brooke is lucky enough to still spend a lot of time with the horse that taught her so much. She also gained a best friend in Mel in the process.

On the day of our Equine Session, it was freezing. Driving to the stable, I could barely see a few feet in front of my truck.  When I got to the barn however, the girls were ready for an awesome morning! With puppies in tow, the winter wonderland made for an epic background.

Here’s a few words from Brooke on how our session went…

“Sue helped me to pull off a birthday surprise for a friend and her horse.  While a bit hesitant to stand outside in -25 degrees on a winter day, we had a a blast and the pictures turned out amazing! Sue was such a good sport about dealing with two laughing girls, a wild dog that wouldn’t stand still for photos, and a horse who thought ears back and teeth out was the look we were going for.  We couldn’t have asked for more from Sue or our Equine Session and look forward to having her out in the warmer weather.”
